Looking to remotely control music for a single Zone? You’re in the right place. This article explains how to use the Pandora CloudCover player bar in Tune to select a Zone, see where it’s playing, and control its music remotely.
If you have access to multiple Zones or locations, see How to: Manage Music for Multiple Locations. That article covers using the Zones Dashboard to make changes across multiple Zones at once.
New player bar rolling out: We’re gradually introducing a new player bar with an updated way to see and control where your music is playing.
If you see the Play Here / Play Remote toggle, follow the instructions below. If you see a player selector next to your Zone instead, jump to Using the New Player Bar at the bottom of this article.
Want to try the new player bar now? Contact Pandora CloudCover Support and ask to have it enabled for your account.
To remotely control a zone from your browser:
Log in as the Admin of the account, or the location itself that has zones added to it.
At the bottom of the screen you should see the player bar.
Select the zone you wish to control and make sure the player bar is set to remote
4. If you have logged into the account where it is currently streaming, you will see this message:
You will need to make sure you that you no longer want to stream on that device.
When in remote mode, you will have the option to view the stream history, change the volume, and skip the song.
To select a station simply hover the mouse over the station, (from the 'Music' link at the top), and you will see two options, 'Play Now' and 'Play Next'. Select one to play music from that station.
Using the New Player Bar
Use the Zone selector on the far right of the player bar to choose the Zone you want to control.
Look at the player selector immediately to the left of the Zone. If music is playing on another device, the player selector will be highlighted in blue and identify the type of player currently active, such as:
CloudBox
Browser
Mobile
Sonos
Use the controls in the player bar to remotely control music for that Zone.
To change the music, go to Music, find a station, and select Play Now or Play Next. Your selection will play on the active player for that Zone.
Note that you can also use the free Pandora CloudCover mobile app to remotely control music for individual Zones.
Selecting a CloudBox
If a CloudBox is registered to the Zone, it will be available in the player selector. You can select the CloudBox to make it the active player for that Zone.
Other browsers, mobile devices, and Sonos players cannot be selected remotely from the player selector. If you want music to play on one of those devices, you'll need to go to that device and start playback there.
Playing on "This device" instead
If you want to stop remotely controlling the current player and play music through the browser you're using instead:
Open the player selector.
Choose This device.
When This device is active, you'll see a laptop icon without a text label. See How to Stream from a Browser for more information.
Use caution when switching players. Switching players will stop playback on the player currently associated with the Zone. Before switching, make sure you won't interrupt music that customers or employees are currently listening to.
