Using Dayparts with Sonos

This article describes how to set up music schedules in Sonos using the Alarms feature within the Sonos App.

To set up a music schedule using Sonos and Cloud Cover Music, you will need to use the 'Alarms' feature within the Sonos App.ย Please note that you will need to be on the same network as your Sonos speaker for this to work. You can have a maximum of 32 alarms.

Start with when you would like the in-store music to turn on.

To set a Sonos alarm using iOS or Android:

  1. Go to the Settings menu.

  2. Select the Manage button next to My System.

  3. Select Alarms.

  4. To create a new alarm, select Add Alarm. To edit an existing alarm, select the alarm from the list.

  5. Set your desired time, room, and music settings. You can also adjust the desired volume, when the alarm repeats, and how long the alarm will sound.

  6. Select Save.

To set a Sonos alarm using a Mac or PC:

  1. Click Alarms from the bottom of the Select a Music Source pane on the right side of the Sonos app.

  2. To create a new alarm, click the on macOS or the Add button on Windows. To edit an existing alarm, click the name of the alarm, then click Edit.

  3. Set your Time, Room, Music, Frequency and Volume settings.

  4. Click OK to save the alarm.

To Set an Alarm using Sonos S1 Controller app for iOS or Android

  1. From the Rooms tab, select the Alarm icon.

  2. To create a new alarm, select Add Alarm. To edit an existing alarm, select the alarm from the list.

  3. Set the Time, Room, Music, Frequency and Volume settings.

  4. Select Save.

Alarms can also be accessed from the Settings tab by going to System > Alarms.

Sonos Alarms With Groups

To set an Alarm with a group you first need to group your speakers - See this article for how to group speakers. Then set an alarm from one of the speakers in your group. In this example we're using the Living Room speaker which is grouped with the office speaker. As you're setting this alarm be sure to check "Include grouped rooms"

Set a Sleep Timer on Sonos

Setting up a sleep timer on Sonos so the music automatically turns off after a specified time period.

Sonos app for iOS or Android

  1. From the Now Playing screen, select the icon at the bottom right.

  2. Select Sleep Timer.

  3. Choose a sleep timer duration from the list.

The remaining sleep timer duration appears next to the Sleep Timer option.

Sonos apps for macOS or Windows

  1. Click Sleep Timer from the bottom of the Select a Music Source pane on the right side of the Sonos app.

  2. Select the desired time frame.

The remaining sleep timer duration appears next to the Sleep Timer option.

Sonos S1 Controller app for iOS or Android

  1. From the Now Playing screen, select the icon on iOS or the icon on Android to open the Info & Options menu.

  2. Select Sleep Timer.

  3. Choose a sleep timer duration, then select Done.
